What is Vaser LipoSelection ® ?
VASER LipoSelection ® combines new patented technology with advanced surgical techniques to break up and remove fatty tissue. Unwanted fat can be efficiently removed from abs, arms, back, hips, knees, love handles, neck and chin, saddlebags, thighs - any place you've developed a little "extra cushioning."
How does it work?
The VASER System uses ultrasound energy to break up and emulsify fat, leaving surrounding tissue - such as nerves, blood vessels and connective tissue - relatively intact. Only the VASER LipoSelection ® procedure can offer you an experience that is Ultra-Selective, Ultra-Smooth and Ultra Sound! The VASER LipoSelection ® procedure uses the VASER System's patented innovative ultrasound technology for fatty tissue emulsion and proprietary cannulae, designed to minimize tissue trauma during aspiration . Because nerves and blood vessels are largely undisturbed, patients and physicians report low to minimal pain and bruising . Moreover, the VASER LipoSelection ® procedure allows physicians to work with such precision, that they can shape delicate areas like the inner thighs, arms, chin and neck.

How does the procedure technically work?
In VASER LipoSelection ® tissue selectivity is key: |
- Fatty tissue consists primarily of adipose (fat) cells, but it also contains other important tissues, including nerves, blood vessels, and connective tissue.
- The VASER System utilizes proprietary ultrasound technology to break up fatty tissue before removal.
- Sound energy, similar to that used to remove a cataract from the eye, fragments fatty tissue. Fat cells, which are large and soft, break apart (think of how easily a full water balloon will burst) while leaving nerves, blood vessels and connective tissue largely undisturbed.
- Because the sound energy leaves other surrounding tissue relatively intact, patients and physicians report low to minimal pain and low to minimal swelling and bruising .
- Once emulsified, fat is removed with minimal disturbance to important structural tissue, yielding smooth results.

What are some of the benefits?
Physicians and patients report that VASER LipoSelection ® offers the following benefits: |
- Smooth and predictable results
- Contouring so precise that it can be used in sensitive areas such as the inner thighs, arms, neck and chin.
- Low to minimal pain and low to minimal swelling and bruising.

What makes Vaser Lipo Selection ® different from the rest?
Only the VASER LipoSelection ® procedure is: |
| |
| |
|
Ultra-Smooth
While traditional liposuction techniques are reported to be effective at suctioning fat, they also may have a negative impact on other nearby tissues that are critical to smooth results. The tissue selectivity of the ultrasound energy used in VASER LipoSelection ® facilitates even and shapely contouring.
Ultra-Selective
VASER LipoSelection ® uses ultrasonic energy to emulsify unwanted fat. Ultrasound, as an energy source, is tissue selective - meaning it can be directed to targeted fatty tissue, leaving surrounding tissue largely undisturbed. During the procedure, your physician makes a tiny incision in the treatment area and inserts a thin probe that emits ultrasonic waves. The energy delivered to the area actually breaks down the fat into a liquid that is removed with suction and massage. The patented VASER Technology is so sensitive and precise that physicians can perform the VASER LipoSelection ® procedure even in the most delicate areas, such as inner thighs, arms, chin and neck.
Ultra-Sound
Ultrasound technology has been used for years to get that first glimpse of a baby, remove cataracts and even to clean teeth. Now the precise, controlled power of ultrasound can be used to remove unwanted fat deposits with low to minimal pain. |

What needs to be done BEFORE the actual procedure? |
- C onsultation is your essential first step, which will take place at your doctor's office. Although there are limits to the amount of fat that can be removed, your doctor can assist you with your decision about potential areas for sculpting, the results you can expect, and the recovery process. Prepare questions in advance and be sure your doctor has the opportunity to address all of your concerns. Bring a list of all your current medications and supplements to your appointment. Feel free to bring along your spouse or a good friend or family member for support. During your consultation, you should get a good feel for the practice, its staff and their philosophy of patient care, to confirm that they are a good match for your personal needs - do not underestimate the importance of this "fit."
- Informed Consent . Your doctor will discuss potential complications and review the surgery consent form with you. Because the VASER Sytem's state-of-the-art ultrasound technology is more tissue selective than traditional liposuction, reported complications are low and pain, bruising and swelling are low to minimal. The VASER LipoSelection ® procedure's predictability is evidenced by the low number of reported required re-treatments.
- Confirmation of Candidacy . Once your doctor reviews your medical history and compares your body reshaping potential to your expectations, he or she will evaluate whether you are a good candidate for the procedure. Considerations that assist your surgeon in making this determination include:
- Skin elasticity
- Morbid obesity
- Unrealistic expectations
- Pregnancy Medical history / current medications
- Measurements and "Before" Photographs . Pre-operative measurements and photographs will be used for comparison post-operatively.
- Day-of-Procedure Instructions . Your doctor will provide specific instructions to prepare you for your procedure.
|
| |
| |
|
What will be done DURING the procedure? |
- Sedation . Anesthesia may be general, local, or local with IV sedation - your doctor will discuss his or her preference with you.
- Infusion . Your doctor creates a tiny incision in the area to be treated. The targeted area is then filled with a special saline solution to make it very wet and full, making the fatty tissue easier to emulsify with the VASER System's ultrasound energy. This solution includes epinephrine, which shrinks blood vessels to help reduce bleeding and bruising, and lidocaine, an anesthetic agent that helps numb the site.
- Treatment . Your doctor then inserts a thin grooved probe that is unique to the VASER System. The probe disperses ultrasound waves around the grooved tip to break down and emulsify fatty tissue on contact.
- Aspiration . Suction and massage of the sculpted site remove emulsified tissue, while leaving blood vessels, nerves and connective tissue relatively intact.
|
| |
| |
|
What will happen AFTER the procedure? |
- Recovery . Once the numbing effects of the anesthetic agent wear off, you may experience some discomfort. You and your doctor will discuss whether over-the-counter and/or prescription pain medication is right for you. Initially, expect some fluid drainage from your incisions.
- Compression Garment . You will wear a compression garment home from the procedure; most doctors will require you to wear such a garment under your clothing for a period ranging from 2-6 weeks post-operatively, depending upon the body area(s) treated and the amount of fat removed. This will provide you with comfort and support, and will help your skin settle to your new contours. It is critical that you follow your doctor's instructions regarding the wearing of this garment.
- Follow-up Appointments . While you may feel and look terrific, it is essential that you keep your follow-up appointments so that your doctor can monitor your progress. Imagine how rewarding it will be to compare your measurements and see your "After" pictures!
- New Wardrobe . This is just a suggestion and is open to interpretation!
