Meso-Therapy
(For treatment of Cellulite) What is Cellulite?
Cellulite is a common term used to describe superficial pockets of trapped fat, which cause uneven dimpling or "orange peel" skin. It appears in 90% of post-adolescent women and is rarely seen in men.
What is the story of Mesotherapy? After being used in France for over 50 years, there is finally a new method available in the United States that may help you get rid of fat and cellulite without surgery. Mesotherapy was originally invented in France by Dr. Michael Pistor and has been performed there since 1952. He discovered that when small amounts of medications were injected into the mesoderm, blood flow would increase to the treated area, dissolving excess fat deposits, improving lymphatic drainage and removing hardened connective tissue. Since 1952, approximately 15,000 doctors around the world have been using Mesotherapy in their daily practice.

What is Mesotherapy and how does it work? |
Mesotherapy is a medical treatment which involves injecting microscopic quantities of pharmaceutical agents and vitamins into the skin to treat a variety of conditions. The medications used in Mesotherapy melt the fat beneath the skin and shrink the fat cells in the subcutaneous and fascia layers. The fat dissolves and, as occurs when fat is broken down during typical weight loss, is carried through the blood stream and utilized by muscles, then excreted by the kidneys and bowel. The Physician will select a formula customized to treat your condition. |

What can Mesotherapy be used to treat? |
Mesotherapy may be an alternative to liposuction for some patients, since it is a non-surgical technique. Mesotherapy can be used for eliminating cellulite from heavy thighs, abdomen, hips and buttocks. It can also be used for: fat reduction (spot weight reduction), anti-aging of the skin, redundant (sagging) skin, hand and neck rejuvenation and for sagging chins and eyelids. Dr. Mohamed has invented a proprietary formula that can give you dramatic results in just a few weeks. |

Mesotherapy Vs. Liposuction: |
Liposuction does not treat cellulite and in fact often ends up enhancing preexisting cellulite, making the cellulite more prominent. Mesotherapy treats cellulite directly and the result is a smoother skin surface. Mesotherapy also targets fat reduction in specific areas: The fat deposits flush out of these areas and the body does not gain the weight back, which often happens after liposuction. Mesotherapy is a non-surgical procedure that does not require hospital admittance, general anesthesia, or downtime as does liposuction. Also, there are no extensive medical evaluations or elaborate laboratory data required prior to treatment as are needed in liposuction. |

Is it painful? |
Mesotherapy is a painless alternative to liposuction. In some cases, the injections may cause slight discomfort, similar to the pain experienced from waxing. Despite this, it is relatively painless, since a tiny needle that is very thin is used, that can hardly be felt. |
Is it permanent? Yes. Results are long lasting by dissolving fat and destroying fat cells evenly. |

What are the typical results for Mesotherapy? |
For cellulite :
Cellulite is caused by connective tissue bands that hold down the skin, trapping the fat and thereby causing the "dimpling" effect. The medications used in Mesotherapy help destroy the connective tissue bands and melt the trapped fat, creating a smooth, dimple-free appearance. A patient's skin appears significantly smoother. Most patients lose anywhere from two to four inches where their cellulite is treated.
For spot weight reduction :
Fat and cellulite are eliminated from targeted sites using the same techniques as above. Unlike liposuction, only the fat (not the fat cells) is removed. Some patients can lose two to six inches in their saddle bags, hips, thighs, waist, love handles, back fat and chin when medicine is placed in those areas. Also it is used for fat underneath chin and eye bags. |

What are the possible side effects? |
Since the amounts and concentrations of Mesotherapy medications are so small, there is little concern about absorption of the medications into the body and there have been no reports of serious side effects from Mesotherapy. Y ou may experience slight bruising, which resolves over one week. Swelling, redness and tenderness of the area injected are the only reported adverse effects and these vary according to the area injected, the medication injected and the amounts used. To speed up the healing process, we can recommend the appropriate supplements, such as Arnica to be taken orally or topical ointments may be applied to help decrease bruising. A slight pinching or burning sensation may be felt. We can prescribe a topical anesthetic cream to help avoid this altogether. We will go over what to expect after your personalized treatment during your consultation and address any concerns you may have. |

Is it safe? |
Mesotherapy is generally considered a safe procedure and requires no anesthesia. Treatments may run anywhere from 3 to 15 sessions, depending on the severity of the problem. As with any medical procedure there are risks involved and you should discuss these risks with your doctor prior to undergoing any procedure. |
What kind of results can I expect and how soon will I see them? |
Mesotherapy is not considered a weight loss procedure. Results vary based on your body type and the severity of the condition. On the average, based on condition, the results can be seen in two to three sessions. For certain conditions you may see results immediately . Approximately 20% of patient s claimed immediate results for losing inches and some weight, for others the results are slower, but still very noticeable. Patients still have to watch their diets and exercise regularly to lose the fat and to keep it off. |
What is the recovery time? |
The treatments are minimally invasive, therefore the recovery is immediate. |
What is required before and after the treatment? |
Before treatment instructions include not taking aspirin or ibuprofen-like medications for 1 week before treatment. After treatment, no heavy exercise should be performed until after a period of 24 hours. All patients undergoing Mesotherapy will be asked to follow a low carbohydrate, low sugar, natural and healthy diet, which should be simple to implement. Because a considerable amount of toxins are going to be eliminated, lots of water is used to flush these substances, along with dissolved fat, out of the body. Exercise is needed to circulate the medications used and should be performed up to three times a week. |
